Low-pressure water mist protects Skarven Læringssenter

Prevent Systems has delivered the low-pressure water mist system for the new Skarven Læringssenter in Øksfjord. The modern learning centre, covering approximately 3,400 m², will serve as an important meeting place for children, young people and the wider community in Loppa Municipality.

Skarven Læringssenter includes a kindergarten, a school for grades 1–10, a swimming pool, a sports hall and a library. The building is largely constructed from mass timber, with exposed wooden surfaces and a clear focus on creating flexible, high-quality learning environments.

Effective fire protection with a limited water supply

All areas of the building are protected by low-pressure water mist from Prevent Systems. Water mist provides highly effective fire control and suppression while limiting water damage in the event of activation. This is particularly relevant in buildings with extensive use of mass timber.

The system uses smaller pipe dimensions and less water than traditional sprinkler systems. This significantly reduces material use and simplifies installation while meeting the necessary fire safety requirements.

Successful collaboration throughout the project

Alt’a Rør was responsible for installing the water mist system, while Prevent Systems supplied the system and assisted with its commissioning.
